The department has shown an exponential growth since its beginning. The computing facilities have undergone thorough changes keeping in tune with current technology. A new laboratory with adequate space, equipped with latest computing systems have been added to cater to the requirements of students. The department has been updating its systems to keep up with the fast paced changes in the field. The indigenous in-house software development has been taken up by the department to support the different functional units of the college. The department organizes several workshops to improve the curriculum content and examination pattern, both at the Degree level, as well as to bridge the gap between the industry and the institution. The department encourages and provides help to students to take up External project works. Student seminars are also regularly conducted to keep them abreast of the global competition. The department functions as a nodal agency for designing the curriculum for different career-oriented programs being run in different institutions. Its endeavour has been to provide future leaders for the IT, ITES and BPO sectors. The course enables a student to get exposed to a wide range of computer related skills from the fundamentals to complex system programming as well as application specific programming. The Placement and Career Counselling cell has been set up in the college for the benefit of the students. The Cell’s primary objective is to provide the much needed life skills to students and help them to find job placements. The Cell’s activities were initiated by Prof. Veena N Dept. of Commerce and management To keep pace with the present stiff competition, the placement cell has undertaken several measures like organizing seminars, mock interviews, soft skills training, communication skills, personality development, and corporate culture/etiquette and leadership skills to the final year students. These programs are conducted by distinguished personalities in the field. The college has integrated the Career Counselling with the Placement cell. The Cell offers guidance to students regarding different path ways in higher education and other career opportunities apart from placement support.

The college conducts classes regularly, where students are given rigorous training on various topics like Coding and Decoding, Arithmetic, Reasoning, Analogy, Logical and Verbal Reasoning, etc. At the end of each session, mock interviews are conducted to familiarize the students with the interview process. Study materials, wherever possible is provided to assist the students further.

Prof. Dr.D.Sridhar, Head, Dept. of Computer science, has contributed several books and CDs for the library of placement cell. The cell thanks him profusely for the endless support and help.

PLACEMENT

During the academic year 2019-20, nearly 80% of the students were recruited through campus selection by several multinational companies. The count is still on the rise, since the placement support is an ongoing process, with selections taking place all the year around.
